Position Overview: Opera Montana is seeking a dynamic and passionate Director of Community Engagement to join our team. This role is pivotal in building meaningful relationships with new and existing constituents, including patrons, donors, the Veteran community, marginalized groups in the community, and non-profit partners. The Director of Community Engagement will help craft the compelling messaging including via social media, email, and in person to articulate Opera Montana's mission, values, and programming and work well within a team. The successful candidate will be a strategic communicator, an enthusiastic ambassador for Opera Montana, and a creative thinker with a deep understanding of community dynamics.
Key Responsibilities: Community Building & Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to build and nurture relationships with current and potential patrons, donors, volunteers, and community organizations in Bozeman and throughout the state. Investigate possible partnerships with other community organizations surrounding Opera Montana’s productions, performances, and educational initiatives. Represent Opera Montana at community events; serve as a positive ambassador for OM and its mission. Messaging & Communications: Collaborate with the OM staff to craft clear, compelling messaging that highlights Opera Montana’s mission, vision, and upcoming programs. Create an annual marketing plan Develop content for print, digital, and social media platforms, ensuring alignment with Opera Montana’s brand and narrative. Working with contracted graphic designers, photographers, and videographers, oversee the creation of press releases, newsletters, impact reports, promotional materials, and other communication tools. Social Media & Digital Engagement: Manage Opera Montana’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), ensuring consistent, on-brand content that drives engagement. Develop and execute social media and email campaigns that increase audience awareness, build excitement for performances, and promote fundraising initiatives. Manage and analyze the marketing budget and ROI on marketing campaigns. Stay up to date on marketing trends and tactics. Event Planning & Management: Assist in the planning and execution of community events, pre-performance gatherings, mainstage performances, and educational outreach programs. Represent Opera Montana at community events, fostering relationships and promoting the organization’s work. Administrative Manage ad sales for Opera Montana programs. Assist Development Director with donor management and engagement Explore ways in which to increase our volunteer pool Other duties as assigned Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with the entire team to understand programming and priorities, ensuring community engagement strategies align with the company’s mission. Assist in event and production planning, set up and tear down. Be a positive, open-minded, and collaborative member of the Opera Montana team. Qualifications: Experience : Demonstrated experience in community engagement, public relations, marketing, or a similar field, ideally within the arts or nonprofit sectors.Skills : Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences. Proven ability to develop and execute successful community engagement strategies. Experience in managing social media accounts and content creation. A passion for opera and the arts, with an understanding of the cultural landscape. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
